Fitness, Exercise and Nutrition are the key to Healthy Weight Loss

As children, we are expected to participate in gym class, organized sports and encouraged to go out and play. Once we reach adulthood, most people are not involved with organized sports and unfortunately going outside to play often does not fit into a busy schedule. Finding time to exercise is important but is often overshadowed by more pressing issues. For many, the return into a workout schedule can be overwhelming and difficult to accomplish. It is recommended that adults engage in physical activity four to six times a week for thirty to sixty minutes. While the time may seem short, finding the time to fit in exercise can still be difficult. Exercising to lose weight is the main reason people find themselves returning to the fitness world. However, it is easy to become frustrated when the results are not immediate. By combining physical activity with a healthy diet and diet supplements, results can be achieved faster, but it is an ongoing activity that needs to be continued once the desired weight is achieved.

The definition of fitness is the quality or state of being fit. Fitness varies from person to person and cannot be determined without looking into age, sex, hereditary, personal habits, exercise and eating habits. While indicators such as Body Mass Index (BMI) are readily available to the general public and use simple numbers to figure out your body fat jump ropepercentage, there are many other factors one must look at to determine your fitness level. Also, many people aim for weight loss goals based on what they think they should weigh for their height. These goals can sometimes be unreasonable because not everyone carries the same bone and body structure. Setting a weight loss goal based on your starting weight versus setting an ideal weight in your mind can often lead to better results and more realistic goals. The benefits of being physically fit far outweigh the problems that obesity can bring. It increases heart and lung functions, increases energy and your metabolism.

Jumping back into exercise can be intimidating for people. There is always an excuse to avoid exercise in favor of doing something else. However, it can be relatively easy to slowly ease back into exercising. Simple things, such as taking the stairs, parking further away from an entrance or even washing the car, all burn more calories and can ease you back into a more rigorous exercise plan. Walking has become very popular with those trying to lose weight because it is easy to do, does not require specific equipment and has no time constraints on when it can be done and on top of all that it is safe, very few injuries occur from walking. It is also good for the heart and can help prevent osteoporosis. For others, the gym or health club is another good choice. With convenient locations, a variety of equipment and classes to choose from, as well as personal trainers available, it is easy to join and because you are paying for your membership, it motivates many people to keep going. Exercising in a gym gives many more choices for the type of aerobic activity you can do.

Aerobic activities raise your heart rate and increases blood flow and oxygen intake. With treadmills, elliptical machines, Stairmasters and exercise bikes all readily available at most gyms, itfitness ball makes it easy to vary your routine and keep you interested. Also, the availability of weights and weight training machines make weight training much more accessible. Weight training builds and strengthens muscles and can also be used in weight loss as well.

Exercise in itself is not always the most interesting activity to do or the easiest to stick with. By varying your workouts and trying new things, it makes it easier to continue to exercise. Keeping an exercise journal, finding a friend to workout with and keeping your mind occupied with music or a book can help make exercising easier. It is also important to remember that there are a lot of different activities out there that can aid in your weight loss. It is also important to remember that stretching, warming up and cooling down are all integral parts of any workout and can help prevent injuries and other health issues. While some pain is normal with working out, it should not be overwhelming or debilitating in any way. There are herbal supplements on the market that can help the body rebuild after intense workouts and decrease the soreness that many people feel the day after a workout.

Exercise is only one part of the weight loss world and should be combined with a healthy diet and supplements. It is easy to become frustrated when you are working out and not seeing any results, but for most people, they did not gain weight over night and losing weight can be a slow process. When combining exercise with other forms of weight loss, it will be easier to see results and change all of your bad habits. Motivation may be hard to come by but once you start seeing results it will be easier to stick with your exercise program. With so many physical activities out there, it is easy to find one that you enjoy and one that you can stick with. Do not make working out a punishment for your bad eating habits; it will only make sticking to your routine even harder.

Keeping a log of your exercising can also help you see progress. You’ll be able to notice areas in which you are improving and also can track your fitness level. Weight loss is not accomplished by simply exercising; you must also work on changing your eating habits and incorporating healthier choices into your diet. Herbal supplements are also a great way to aid in weight loss and your body’s recovery from a strenuous workout. With so many easy ways to workout and with health clubs conveniently located and affordable, there is no real excuse to avoid exercising, especially when the end results of weight loss and muscle toning can lead to great personal satisfaction.
