Obesity and Environmental Influences

Obesity and Environmental Influences

A study suggests that some of the factors why the rate of obesity has continuously gone higher over the years are the media advertisements, lack of physical activity, and improper guidance of parents at home. The environment that people live in has a big influence on their eating habits. People sometimes do not monitor how much and what they eat anymore. Not because a lot of people are engaging in such eating behavior makes it correct and healthy. People, children most especially, should be given a balanced diet in order to prevent weight-related illnesses.

Advertisements
Many of the advertisements being aired on television nowadays are mostly of fast food. Due to this, people are encouraged to eat and buy these foods. When people get used to the appealing taste that these foods give, they might have a hard time to go back to having a proper meal. People do not realize how much calories that these foods contain. All they care is that they eat delicious food and they are enjoying what they eat. Proper nutrition, minerals, and vitamins are needed by the body so as it will have the energy in order to function well. Without energy one will feel very tired and lazy making it very difficult to move around. Consequently, one has a big tendency to be overweight and unhealthy.

Lack of Physical Activity
The evolution of today’s technology has become so progressive and rapid. Everything has become so automated and digital already. People are now dependent on these advanced technologies that they do not have the opportunity to burn their body fats anymore. Unlike before, everything is done manually making it possible for people to exercise while doing household tasks. For instance, one is sweeping and wiping off the floor. Unconsciously, these body movements can somehow help individuals in their desire to achieve weight loss. Also, most people when at home are glued to just watching television and laying around. This may not be very advisable and healthy. These people neglect the importance of simple activities. Even by just jogging outside their homes for an hour or so will do well to their bodies so as to fight off unwanted sicknesses.

Everything Starts at Home
Good eating habits should start at home. Family members should look after one another. The content of each food should be carefully analyzed and looked at. Being health conscious is not a bad thing, most especially if it is your loved ones who will suffer or benefit from it. If you practice good eating habits at home, you will carry this even if you go outside. You may also encourage friends to eat healthy foods when you are around. Natural food supplements may be recommended by family members as well if one has trouble losing weight.

If one has a strong discipline, it would be very hard for others to influence you on what to eat. One is capable of making the right decision and one definitely has a choice to live life healthy.
