Me on a Diet - Again trying to lose weight.
I have been “dieting” for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, I was not born with skinny genes, therefore, like many other Americans I am always searching for that “new” diet secret. I have recently come to the realization that the magic secret doesn’t exist. Successful weight loss is a combination of several factors. It consists of eating smaller portions, exercise, making healthy food choices, and having a positive outlook. To be successful at losing weight, you must be willing to lose it slow so that it will “stay away.” I have been dieting again since January (my new year’s resolution) and have lost approximately 11.5 pounds to date.
Lifestyle changes to lose weight
I had to make some lifestyle changes. I no longer buy anything that I know I will not be able to resist, such as M&M’s, Hershey’s Nuggets, Dove, and any other chocolate. I have also cut out my daily dose of ice cream and cut back on other snacks. As you can tell, I am a sugaraholic. Once I start eating sweets, I can’t stop. This minor change has contributed greatly to my weight loss efforts.
I have tried several diet plans in the past and even own many diet books. For me, I can not be strictly on one plan, instead I incorporated what has worked best for me from several plans. I believe that there are so many diet plans out there because one shoe doesn’t fit and what may work for one person may not work for the next. For instance, I love bread. I know I could never completely cut out bread from my diet, however, my brother cut out bread in addition to sugar and has lost 20 pounds in the time it took me to lose 10.
The key to successful dieting for you are the cutbacks that work best for you. However, I am always interested in hearing what worked. You never know, it may work for others too….aren’t we all still looking for the diet secret!!!
